Las Vegas edition: Here it is—Serendipity’s Frrrozen hot chocolate! It’s not quite the Golden Opulence Sundae (sold for $1,000 in a take home crystal dish), but it’s still rich, decadent deliciousness. For those with a never-ending sweet tooth, Frrrozen hot chocolate mix is available for purchase, so stock up.

Protip: If you’re a Foursquare user, Vegas is the city to visit. Almost all of the casinos have badges for the taking, and they all come with perks like free VIP status to the clubs for a full year. I unlocked a voucher from Caesar’s Palace that got me this free hot chocolate with dinner!

Their chocolate totally sucks tbh, but the shop itself is pretty cool!

NYC edition: La Maison du Chocolat was actually the first stop on my self-guided macaron tour. I had pistachio, and it was definitely the softest macaron I’ve ever had. I haven’t decided whether or not I consider this a good thing.

I also snagged a complimentary chocolate ganache truffle which was to. die. for. Like, I want to melt a thousand of those truffles down and take a bath in it.

NYC edition: Financier Patisserie definitely wins the award for best value on my macaron tour so far. I spent $2.50 on a chocolate macaron, which is a pretty standard price, but it was easily twice as large as a regular macaron and not overpoweringly sweet.

Fun fact: Financier was named after the French pastry of the same name, and the financial district where the first location of the bakery is located!

Boston edition: Max Brenner - Chocolate by the Bald Man

Hotel Chocolat is a chocolate boutique founded in the U.K. with a location in the Back Bay district of Boston. The chocolaterie has a selection of every form of chocolate you could want, but their signature is the chocolate slab, which comes in 10 different permanent flavors and well as rotating seasonal flavors. The Boston location of HC is notable for housing an appointment only tasting room.

Pix’s afternoon tea service (featuring Townshend’s Tea) is absolutely worth it.

Go visit Portland’s very own mini-pie maker at the PIE Spot, located in the D-Street nosh pod. I had the chocolate hazelnut per my mum’s suggestion, and it does not disappoint. PIE Spot also makes savory pies as well, so I hope to get down there for a chicken pot pie soon.

Madeleines are a lot easier to make than you would think. I’ve been putting orange zest in my latest batches, but I’m going to try almond extract and matcha powder next (not together, mind you).
